Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe Closes $126,915,000 Tax Exempt Bond Issuance

The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe has successfully closed a $126,915,000 tax-exempt bond issuance to refinance existing bonds on the Tribe's clinic, and to finance the renovation and construction of a new 112,691 square foot Wellness Center. Features of the building include: four new gyms, expanded fitness facilities, state of the art physical therapy, men's and women's saunas and locker room areas, a climbing wall, a therapy pool, a new behavioral health wing, new community/education rooms, expanded Dakota Language and cultural spaces, and other related spaces. This facility is designed with a holistic approach to wellness that encompasses the balance between physical, mental, cultural, and spiritual well-being.


The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is a leader in Indian Country, known for well-executed programing, businesses that contribute to the economy of the Tribe's community, and one of the largest employers in the area. The transaction was led by Partner Seth Pearman, based in Peebles Bergin's Sioux Falls office. Seth is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and previously served as Attorney General for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe for more than 12 years, where he oversaw and advanced numerous businesses and projects vital to tribal economic sustainability. With deep experience in finance, economic development, and tribal enterprises, as well as a strong litigation background in tribal, state, and federal courts, Seth brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to strengthening tribal self-sufficiency through projects like this one.
