Mr. Gravelle joined the firm in 2008.

PRACTICE AREAS:  Tribal Economic Development, Sovereignty and Self-Determination, Administrative and Gaming Law, Constitutional Law, Employment and Tribal Housing.

TRIBAL AFFILLIATION:  Mr. Gravelle is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

LEGAL EXPERIENCE:  Prior to the joining the firm, Mr. Gravelle was an elected member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians’ Board of Directors.  Mr. Gravelle was elected to this position in July 2004 and served a four year term of office.  Before being elected, he worked in the Tribe’s Legal Department as a staff attorney, Assistant Tribal Prosecutor and as the Tribe’s General Counsel.  Prior to working for his Tribe as an attorney, Mr. Gravelle worked as a contract attorney practicing Federal Indian Law for various Tribes in the state of Wisconsin.

ASSOCIATIONS:  Michigan and Wisconsin State Bar Associations.      

MILITARY EXPERIENCE:  Mr. Gravelle has over ten years of military service, having served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps as an Embassy Security Guard (U.S. State Department), American Embassy, Stockholm, Sweden and at the American Embassy in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.  Later, while in college and Law School, he served in the Michigan and Wisconsin National Guard as a Bridge Engineer and as Law clerk in the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s Office of Staff Judge Advocate.
