Mr. Bergin first joined the firm as an Associate in 2005 and then rejoined the firm in 2010. He became a Partner in 2011.

LEGAL EXPERIENCE: Prior to rejoining the firm, Mr. Bergin practiced in Washington, D.C. for more than five years representing several American Indian tribes before Congress and federal agencies. From 2002-2005 Mr. Bergin worked as a criminal defense and civil litigation attorney in Utah. Mr. Bergin was a Legislative Consultant with the California State Legislature from 1997 to 2002. From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Bergin worked as a Legislative Analyst for a California based trade association.

Mr. Bergin has represented tribal governments in the areas of federal litigation, federal lobbying and political advice, federal agency negotiations, business transactions and corporate governance. Mr. Bergin was successful in developing and employing strategies for advancing his tribal client’s legislative and legal interests; including assisting a California based Indian tribe achieve Congressional approval of a significant water rights settlement (P.L.110-297).
