LEGAL EXPERIENCE: Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bergin practiced in Washington, D.C. for five years representing several American Indian tribes before Congress and federal agencies.  Mr. Bergin also has a criminal defense and civil litigation background.

Prior to his litigation practice, Mr. Bergin represented tribal governments in the areas of federal lobbying and political advice, agency negotiations, business transactions and corporate governance. Mr. Bergin was successful in developing and employing strategies for advancing his tribal client’s legislative and legal interests; including assisting a California based Indian tribe achieve Congressional approval of a significant water rights settlement. Prior to his legal practice, Mr. Bergin had more than eight years of state legislative experience, working as Communications Director and Legislative Consultant within the California State Legislature and served as the Legislative Analyst for a California trade association.
