Mr. Morgan joined Fredericks Peebles & Morgan LLP with proven proficiencies and successes in the areas of Indian law, economic development and Indian gaming. As developer of Ho-Chunk, Inc., an economic development corporation of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, he helped lead the company from a start-up in 1995 with no revenues and one employee to what is now a tribal conglomerate exceeding $155 million in revenues with 1,100 employees. Ho-Chunk is involved in developing as many non-gaming aspects of the Winnebago tribal economy as possible. As president and CEO of this firm, he is also responsible for the development, and operational and strategic management, of a number of subsidiaries including HCI Distribution Company, which was started in 1999 to sell Native American tobacco products and Native-blended gasoline products. Other subsidiary projects include developing hotels, retail products, government contracting, modular homes and Indianz.Com, the largest Native news and information Web site.
As an attorney for Fredericks Peebles & Morgan he has helped several tribes evaluate their economies and assisted them in establishing economic diversification plans and tribal corporate legal structures. He has also advised tribes on all aspects of general tribal corporate development from initial planning, board training, investment decision making, government contracting, acquisitions and financing.
As an attorney for the national law firm of Dorsey & Whitney, Mr. Morgan worked in all areas of Indian law including a broad range of gaming and corporate matters. He participated in several tribal-related developments, giving advice on development structure and financing, and lobbied several states on behalf of tribes.
