Ms. Bogda-Cleveland joined Fredericks Peebles & Morgan LLP with a strong background in federal Indian law and environmental law. While employed by the U.S. EPA, she enforced federal and state environmental laws and regulations. She was the Region 5 Superfund Removal Co-Coordinator, the National Historic Preservation Act Expert, Mercury Spills Expert, FOIA Expert, Minnesota State Authorization Expert, and the Michigan State Voluntary Cleanup Program Contact. She also was a member of the Region 5 and National Tribal Law Practice Group, Brownfields Practice Group, TMDL Practice Group, Environmental Justice Practice Group and the National Superfund Removal Workgroup. Ms. Bogda-Cleveland has drafted Regional Administrator's Decisions and has also drafted tribal environmental codes, regulations, and TAS applications.
Ms. Bogda-Cleveland has provided advice and representation on Indian law matters to tribal, state and federal governments. With her experience as a federal and tribal prosecutor, Ms. Bogda-Cleveland has provided training on tribal, state and federal criminal and civil jurisdictional matters. As the Deputy Director for the State of South Dakota Office of Tribal Government Relations, Ms. Bogda-Cleveland provided advice and consultation to the Governor of South Dakota and State of South Dakota senior officials. She participated in governmental negotiations between the State of South Dakota and the South Dakota Indian Tribes, including gaming compact negotiations. Ms. Bogda-Cleveland's experience also includes her representation of Indian tribes on a variety of issues, including but not limited to issues involving economic development, tribal governance, sovereignty and self-determination, Indian housing, employment, gaming, environmental law, ICWA, and domestic violence and sexual assault.
