Mr. Assam has specialized in all aspects of project finance his entire professional career. As a lawyer, he has specialized principally in finance law for nearly 15 years with a special emphasis in gaming law and economic development with respect to both tribal and non-tribal projects. He served as Issuer’s Counsel and has represented tribes, financial institutions, entrepreneurs, gaming resource suppliers and investment banks in connection with various projects of all sizes throughout the United States and several foreign countries. He has completed transactions on both a taxable and tax-exempt basis ranging in size from $6,000,000 to more than $180,000,000 and has been involved in various aspects of master-planned community developments of up to $320,000,000.
Mr. Assam drafted and negotiated numerous complex construction, management and finance agreements in addition to tribal gaming codes and regulations. His legal compliance activities on behalf of clients have included all aspects of federal and state law including representation in connection with the Securities and Exchange Commission, state securities departments, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the National Indian Gaming Commission and state and tribal gaming commissions throughout the United States.
Mr. Assam’s broad experience extends to the executive level within the private sector as well. He serves, and/or has served, as an officer and director to a number of companies including private holding companies, a number of operating businesses and publicly traded organizations.
As an experienced lobbyist, Mr. Assam was instrumental in drafting and advocating legislation in a variety of industries in a number of states.
